Marketing permissions for Contacts with multiple e-mail addresses

I have the following scenario in a customer using C4C for executing marketing campaigns:
One contact may have multiple e-mail addresses, for example one personal e-mail address and two commercial e-mail addresses, maintained at relationship level with other accounts.

Imagine that my contact only wishes to receive mass e-mails in one of these addresses - for example commercial address 1. As marketing permissions are at Contact level, I will either have the contact as Opt-in and he will be able to receive mass e-mails in all e-mail addresses or as Opt-out and he will not receive any mass e-mails at all.

Now imagine that we need to have at least the two commercial addresses, to send, for example, opportunities or sales orders forms to commercial address 2. Then I will have no way to ensure that commercial address 2 does not receive mass e-mails, as I have to keep my marketing permission as Opt-in to be able to send mass e-mails to commercial address 1, according to GDPR law that will be valid from May 25th.

Using Communication category, that is also available in the Marketing Permissions tab for Contacts, will not help me solve this issue, it is also at contact level. If I have Opt-in for e-mail channel and Subscribe for a certain communication category so that I can send mass e-mails to commercial e-mails address 1, then I will also be able to send communication to commercial e-mail address 2.

The use of the unsubscribe link that is mandatory for all mass e-mails that are used in marketing campaigns will also change permissions for all e-mail addresses: using my previous example, if the contact clicks unsubscribe in a mass e-mail sent to commercial address 2 by mistake (as I am not able to ensure that this address is not contacted using marketing permissions) then all mass e-mails will be blocked for all e-mail addresses maintained, which is not be the desired behavior.

Anyone with the same scenario or with any idea on how to solve this issue?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi

As you already figured out Marketing Permissions are at Channel level, and excluding specific email addresses to suit your needs is certainly out of bounds presently.

If you wish the emails to go to only a specific email address of Contact, then you need to maintain this at the Account-Contact Relationship Address level.

I would recommend you to post this as an idea in Customer Influence Forum.
