Why need delivering plant & supplyin plant fields in Material master

Hi Experts,

In material master you can find fields called plant & delivering plant why two are required..?

In sales order you can two fileds again at item level you can see plant and at hdr level delivering plant, in sales order delivering plant is always blank as my knowledge. Why this is again..?

While maintaining shipping pt. determination or s.loc detemination you use delevering plant for determination but in sales order you will mention plant or supplying plant.

Please clarify.

Hi

Plant has multifunctions in Logistics in SAP

With respect to PP it is a production unit

With respect to MM it is a storage location

With respect to SD it is a Delivering plant

Coming to your qn

First of all in MMR you will find the plant as one field in Sales org data 1 as delivering plant

Sales org data 1 is towards sales activities hence it is a delivering plant

While creating the material in MM01 you have to give plant

That plant is not a field

It is a organizational unit

It can happen that you can produce or procure materials in one plant and the sales activities can happen in different plant

In most of the real time cases all will be the same

This answers your Qn1

Qn 2 BecauseProduction plant and delivering plant being the same we dont mention Plant in CMR

In sales order plant comes thro CMIR,CMR,MMR and we not maintained anything in CMIR andCMR it is coming from MMR

Qn 3 Next to sales shipping has to happen

hence delivering plant is used for the determination on shipping pt

If Production plant and delivering plant being different then stocks have to be moved to delivering plant thro STOs for carrying out sales activities

As SD consultant we have to be more concerned about delivering plant only

Hi there,

Consider this case. For eg you have a plant 1000. Another plant 2000 will get the item X manufactured by 1000 & will then supply to the end customer. So 1000 will do a stock transfer to 2000. But infact X is manufactured in 1000 not in 2000.

In this case you will maintain 2000 in the manufacturing plant / plant information.

Delivering plant will be specific to the sales org data. So in the sale org 2000 data you will mention 2000.
