How to configure SAP JCo ERP 6.0 Connection correctly for IDT Universe?

Hi there,

Hoping someone how some experience setting up within the Information Design Tool (IDT) a secure connection to SAP ERP?

Version SAP BO BI 4.2 SP5.

Basically when testing the 'secure' connection, within the IDT, the following error occurs.

Initialization of destination CS_DEST-xxxxl--02-300-1E-AOSULLIV-2134884265-6da1c690-3bea-4a42-b718-f1dde41e97f6 failed: Cannot process unicode RFC call in non-unicode system (for details see note 875767#) on nxxx 02

I haven't been able to find a SAP note that tells me how to get a secure connection to work for a SAP ERP data source.

I've been plenty of SAP BW ones, specifying to register an RFC Connection and program id.

However, for SAP ERP 6.0 JCo connection, there isn't anywhere available where you could enter in RFC connection information.

These are the connection parameter fields that need to be filled in. Nothing for RFC to be entered in anywhere.

How do I get the two systems to talk, i.e. SAP BO to SAP ERP? What am I missing?

Many thanks,
Ainsley

So after discussing with SAP Basis we followed the steps outlined in the wiki: https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/SAP+BW+With+RFC+JCO+Connections+In+Information+Design+Tool

    This worked.

The issue is non-unicode data source. BI requires unicode. t's not possible to connect to a non-unicode SAP ABAP ERP system and the error message comes from SAP ERP system. As of now, non-unicode isnt supported.

I just found this SAP Note, dated 10 May 2018. I'm thinking it could be related. So will attempt it.

Unfortunately SAP Note https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2625613 has not resolved the issue.

Back to square one. Hope someone has some thoughts?
