Switching data sources in SAC

Hi All,

I had 3 questions -

1. Is it possible to switch a Model's source from Import to Live?

For example, if I would like to use a standard Finance Story, all the models behind it are "import" type. I would rather have them connect using a "Live" connection to the standard CDS view.

How easy or difficult is this switch?

2. If it is not possible, is there an easy way to copy logic from an import model to a new live model?

3. Let's say that I have the new Live model (copied from Import with the same structure), can I switch the import model with this new model on an existing story without breaking any logic?

    1. no you can't change a model's connection strategy from Import to Live.

    2. it depends what sort of 'enrichment' work has been done on the import model. modelling of SAC hierarchies and such wouldn't copy over, you'd have to remodel that at source in your 'live' database or application. However, the logic for calculations and syntax for model formulae could probably be copied over and validated fairly easily (i guess that depends too on where the aggregation is delegated to, in the 'new paradigm')

    3. No, alas it's not that straightforward. there's no "model remapping" for a given visualisation or storypage. Yes, you can click 'change models' for the story, but this flushes out the visualisations, and they effectively have to be rebuilt. So arguably it's just as quick to recreate.

there are a couple of enhancement requests in this area you may wish to add you vote to :

@ Paul Ekeland Did i get that right?

    Kind regards ,
