Business One 8.82 PL:12

Hello experts I ran into an issue that was not an issue in the past. Usually If I have an add-on uninstall fail when implementing an add-on upgrade I simply rename the sbo files; business one creates new ones then Reinstall's all my add-on's when I run the client. now I get this error : Failed to write local registration file for add-on when trying to install each of the add-on's and when they try to install i get installation failed.

I am running client as admin

I am using account with admin privileges

The folders and files all have write & Read privilages.

I am at a loss here thank you for all your help.

A frequent cause of this error is an absent or stopped B1ClientAgent Windows service. It is responsible for elevating permissions for the operations performed during add-on installation and deinstallation. Make sure that service is running.

Hi Derek.

I've seen this error in the past. For me, the solution was to go to the SAP Business One installation folder:

  • "C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\SAP Business One" if you're running the 32bits client
  • "C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One" if you're running the 64 bits client

And then renamed (moved, deleted, whichever makes you feel more comfortable) this file: AddOnsLocalRegistration.sbo

If you open the file you will notice it's an XML with the list of installed add-ons. By removing it you're telling SAP Business One there are no Add-Ons installed in your computer (even if there are) and it will proceed with the installation of each add-on (it will simply overwrite the currently installed files).

Be aware that you might need to run SAP Business One client as an administrator since the file will be written in a system folder (this is the very same reason why sometimes Add-On installations fail, they try to write in C:\program files..... etc. and that's why I always make my own installation folder somewhere else).

Can you just run SAP Business One as administrator and let it overwrite the file? Honestly, I'm not sure. I don't remember if that has worked for me but that doesn't mean it won't work; I've just been lucky my client's systems have had only one or two add-ons and they had agreed to reinstall them if the need arises.

Hi Derek,

Was this SBO client (Note the SBO Client, not the addon) properly installed? or some one just copied the files into this pc?
If you are not sure, you may want to try re-installing the client.
