Picking

Hello All,

here is the situation, we have components items for example A , B, C, which are sold individually as well they are sold in a BOM for example MAT10, which consisit of A,B,C items, so when orders is placed for MAT10, there is apicking list generated , and picking is done & send to production, but if there is a order placed for MAT10 and the customer wants to order with that and extra A item, the picking list is only generated for MAT10 components to be send for productions, but not the extra A item, we just want the picking list for A to be generated, so atleast it can reach the shipping department, but it is not happening, any idea where the problem is?

Regards

Hi,

From your thread I understand you are issuing material to production for producing MAT10 which is having A , B, C, components.Presently I am seeing following options

1.If customer is asking one extra "A" component ,if it is a regular process then either you have to change your BOM by making qty of "A "2 nos. so that material will be issued as per the requirement.Finish good will be supplied to customer with this extra component.

2.If customer is ordering this component additionaly then sales order will be booked with this extra component & when you will create delivery pick list will be generated automatically from the stock.

Hope these inputs help you.

thanks you guys for your reply, but here is the situations, the only problem we are having is the printing of picking list,

A,B,C are the components which we sell it individually as well as in a BOM, so when the order is for BOM, it means the picking has to done for components A,B,C , to make that product, which works very fine,

the problem is when the sales order is placed for these individualy components, it could be an additional to the BOM or by itself say the order is for 10 pcs of compnent A, now at this time ,no picking list is generated for that compnenet A for 10 pcs.

a good example for component A is Screwdriver, when the order is placed for the whole kit, the picking list is generated for screwdriver, drill and so on,

but if the order consist of 1 kit and 10 screw driver, or a sales order for just 10screw diver, no picking list genrated for 10 screw driver in both cases.

Hi,

I kindly ask you to please explain your situation BRIEFLY and CLEARLY. Maybe it is totally clear to you what you are speaking about but at least to me it is not.

In your first message you mention production as well, in the second only order is mentioned. What is the business process? Are you speaking about SO, PrdOrd, or both, or none of them?

You didn't make clear why picking list can't be printied. Do you get error message when you try to print it? Have you checked your master data?

How you mapin SAP those extra 10 pcs (e.g. the extra 10 screwdrivers)?

How is a kit represented in a SO? Is SO BOM in use in? Or each item is a separate SO item?

Or are you speaking about PrdOrd?

Is your process managed in IM, WM, lean WM????

Please try to explain your problem with exact SAP terminology or exact business terminology.

Thanks,

Csaba

Hi,

Are you speaking about production process?

As I understand, you produce MAT10 with two kinds of BOM:

components of BOM1: A, B, C

components of BOM2: A, A, B, C -

I don't know in which environment you work (MTS / MTO > what is the strategy group in material master of MAT10?)

- One option is alternative BOM scenario to realize the production of MAT10 with two different BOMs (you have to create the above mentioned two BOMs, and based on validity date, lot size, production version you can decide / determine which one to use) -http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/f4/7d2aea44af11d182b40000e829fbfe/frameset.htm

- other option is to use SO BOM in MTO environment - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/41/c18342350411d3b460006094b9d648/frameset.htm

- other option is to modify the PrdOrd's component list manually

If your BOM is OK, and your master data settings (e.g. control cycle) are OK, your picking will aslo work properly.
