Type of user who is connecting to the ABAP backends in RAR 5.2?

Hello Experts,

We have RAR 5.2 installed and analyzing various backends (we have ECC5, ECC6 etc.) The user that I`m using to establish conneciton between the Netweaver and the ABAP is of communication type. It is working for all ABAP backends except our CUA client (netweaver 04). For the CUA client the password for the user is expiring every two days. I couldn`t find explanation why is this happening and I`m willing to change the user type to "system" for which I`m sure it won`t have password expiration problems, but i`m not sure what will be the impact on the application.

Please advise me what kind of user type you are using for your user who is connecting to the backends?

Regards,

Iliya

Iliya,

I think in the CUA client you have the parameter for the initial password set to 2 days. There is a way to bypass this.. First change the user to dialog and change the password. Log into the system as the user and change the initial password and log out. Now change the userid to Communication. This will remove the inital password flag for the user and you can use the same password until it expires (Note: communication user is subject to the password rules of the client)

Coming to your concern on the effect of changing the ID to system ID.. there should be no impact as we had the same problem at one of our client sites and we changed the ID to system user and we never had any problem...

I would also recommend you to change all the other backend userID's (you are using for GRC tools) to system users, just to be consistent across the landscape..

Hope this helps...

Thanx Naveen,

I changed the type of the user to system, no problems whatsoever.

Thank you for your help!
