SAP ASE Trial Version 16.0 installer hangs.

Installer GUI shows 43% and keeps running, but never ends.

Both the GUI and the console mode take over 8 hours, keep updating the timestamps of the following 4 files in /tmp:

Description:

The ASE Installer can appear to hang if the operating system is using an incorrect ip address for the hostname.

On Windows this can be due to using a network on a different domain than configured. On Unix this can be due a wrong ip address for the hostname in /etc/hosts.

Resolution On Windows:

Disconnect from any network, wired or wifi when not connected to the host's configured network. NOTE: If using company laptop and not in an office or not using company in office network, use VPN. Or Run installer in silent or console mode.

On Unix Platforms:

Make sure the correct ip-address in inserted in the /etc/hosts file

Thanks Mehrab. The problem is we can't read that KBA. We don't have support. I called support and they said we should be able to get that article (or its content, or the equivalent help) by posting on the community site, ie. here. Would you please be so kind as to send me the content of that article at aursu@parusinteractive.com . We want to evaluate the product, so we don't have support; but because of the installation failure, we can't evaluate...
