Res/P.Req settings and material availability in PM order

Former Member

Dear Experts,

I have two systems, one is SAP R/3 4.7 and the other one is ECC 6.0

In both the systems indicator set for for Res/ P.Req is 'From release' ( In maintenance order).

Now,

In ECC 6.0 even though theres is a shortage of material which I have entered in maintenance order, still if I a check for availability, it gives the message that ' all the materials are available' ( but it won't committ)

Once I release the order and if i check it again for availability then it gives the error log that ' shortage of materials for this order'

So, here actual material availability process activates only if I release the order.

But in SAP R/3,4.7, even though I have the same setting as in ECC 6.0,

System checks for availability correctly & committs actual correct quantity to the order. (before releasing itself)

Now my question is, is it the right thing which is happening? or am I doing anything wrong? Please let me know & do the needful.

Thanks and best regards,

Praveen

hi

where the settings you have made ,in the order or in the IMG setting ,i think as you settings are pretended to create the reservation only after the release the availability does not consider the material.

kindly check the settings once again and also whether in 4.7 the material which is not available is getting commited or the material which is available
