Error for control user when install Enterprise Service Respository

Hi Gurus,

I've installed CE7.1 and now try to install ESR and some error happened when i input the password for DB manager operator: control. and it shows "The check of the control user password failed. Check logfile XCMDOUT.LOG."

And in the log, it shows below

> Subprocess starts at 20081130133918

Execute Command : E:\sapdb\programs\pgm\dbmcli.exe -n happytusi -d CE1 -u control,******** db_state

Execute Session Command : exit

> Subprocess stops at 20081130133918

> Subprocess call failed

ERR

-24961,ERR_STATE: The operational state of the database instance could not be determined

-24994,ERR_RTE: Runtime environment error

no_id_provided_by_rte,no_text_provided_by_rte

Pls help what's the problem? Basically I can log in CE already.

Thanks!

Eric

    Hi Eric,

given the error message you see, I assume that you've installed the system into a VM and use a Terminal Server Session to perform the installation.

Unfortunately, the privileges for the logged on user are different via WTS from the privileges you get if you logon via the 'console'-session.

To perform the installation, either logon via 'console' (a.k.a. directly to the machine) or follow sap note 688028 to change the permissions.

The same procedure is described in MS knowledgebase article 821546.

    regards,

    Lars
