When you applied for license in service marketplace, did you select the license type as "J2EE-Engine" ? If you select "Standard" , you will get a license key which will not be recongnized in Visual admin. So, please double check if the license key which you got is of type "J2EE-Engine".

To check this, you can open the license file in "notepad" and check the "SWPRODUCTNAME" if its for J2ee engine.

Check this first and let us know.

Hi jazz,

I got the license for J2EE-Engine . I tried to apply that in OS level with saplicense -install command. But it is asking to enter the key . When i enter the key which i got from market place it is saying tht key should be exactly 24 charachters. But i got the key which is very long. So instead of "standard" which option should i select?I got 4 options there

1)j2ee engine -web as java

2)Maintanence Certificate

3)enterprise portal 5.0/6.0 (upto sp8)

4)standard -web as java+abap

For a standalone J2ee server like portal, you must select 1) j2ee engine -web as java

If you are applying license through OS level, make sure you give the proper parameters:

saplicense -install [ifile=<filename>]

If you have any doubts in this, refer to the following link:

Hi Jazz,

I tried changing the option from "standard " to AS JAVA and got a new license. But I am still having the same problem when i do it through visual admin. And when i try from OS level the error is "The license looks like it contains a digitally signed license and cannot be applied through sapinstall program.please logon to sap system to install the file."

In visual Administrator after applying the license , what do you see in the "installed license" tab? Do you see j2ee-engine_ora and netweaver_ora as software products? do you see valid license in any of there when you click them?

I think you should go through the following document and check if you are doing it the correct way.

hi,

I have done exactly in the same way mentioned in the document. And also I can see the license which i applied in the "Installed licences" tab as mentioned in the link given by u. But the porblem is the "VALIDITY" field is displaying the value as "INVALID" . and also my server is getting stopped for every thirty minutes saying "license check failed"

This is becuase you have not selected the proper "Product" , "Product version" and "Technical usage" while creating the system for license request.

Make sure

Product - Netweaver

Product version - Netweaver 7.0

Technical usage - Application server Java and enterprise portal

The validity date is not coming because the license key which you are uploading does not contain the License for the relevant products.

Also as mentioned earlier, make sure the license type is "J2EE-Engine" when you request for this time. Once you get this license, this should work.
