material type change

Hi all,

i have one problem to change the material type "ROH" to "FERT". for example i have created material "X" forfour plant ,like A,B,C,D. now i want to change the material type "ROH to FERT" in perticular plant "A" only .

normally MMAM to change the material type for all the plant .could you please guide me to change thematerial type for any one plant only.

It is not possible to define a different material type for a material x for different plants......you have to change the material no. in the plant for which you want to change the material type and then do transfer posting.

Hi,

The material type cannot be changed.The reasons for this are:

1. Valuated stock exists .However, account determination for the two material types differs.(different account category reference or no valuation data defined).The two material types have either different quantity/value updating or a different account category reference.

2. Purchase orders exist, Purchase requisitions, Purchasing info records, Reservations exist in plants.

There are the main Reason you cannt change the material type and each material type has uniquie material no. also.

Note: if all these condition fulfilled then you can change the material type.

You cannot have different material type for a material at plant level.

This is not possible in SAP. As material type is at client level so it will be same for all plants.
