A cluster upgrade is not that much different than normal upgrades. The upgrade guide contains information for those phases where something additional need to be taken care of.

What all preparations I need to take care of? I plan to incorporate High Availability with the upgrade. Do I require to install 4.7 EE on High availability first and then run an upgrade cycle to ECC6.0. OR install a central system then upgrade it to ECC6.0 and then distribute it on HA.

One more question here, incase I require to install HA on 4.7 EE, how do I do it? As I dont fing HA installation as a part of SAPinst in 4.7 EE. Can I make a Distrubuted System 4.7 EE into HA by distributing the groups judiciously over shared hardware.

Appreciate a quick reply.

Thanks

Hi Kshitij,

If you have EMC cluster on solaris upgrade from SAP 4.7 to ECC 6.0 is simple.

Step 1:- Put the cluster in maintenance mode.

Step 2:- Start the normal upgrade. Just refer upgrade guide for virtual hostnames.

Step :- once upgrade is finished bring cluster back to normal monitoring mode from maintenance mode.
