Hi Ramakrishna
You have recently done an Oracle upgrade, from 9i to 10g .
To check one-by-one if the system config is fine before you bring SAP up :
1. lsnrctl ( after logging as the ora<sid> user )
This should show the oracle 10 listener starting.
If not , then create a new listener by using NETCA ( network config assistant )
2. lsnrstl status ( this shoudl be up )
3. tnsping <SID > ( this should be syuccessful )
4. Login as <SID>ADM user and issue "sqlplus"
in the sqlplus command prompt
sql> connect /
( check if it connects ) This connects thru OPS$SIDADM user which is identified externally.
then exit and again
sql> connect /@<SID>
again in SQL > connect / as sysdba
This will show that your oracle is working fine
The try R3trans -d
Check these information and paste the same here .
Thanks
Rishi

Is R3trans -d working? If not what is the error you get in trans.log?
Mostly, you can get the trans.log in the same path where you are
running the command R3trans -d

Hello Ramakrishna,
After you upgrade the DB to 10g make sure that environment variables are set correclty.. when u look at the log it says that Connect failed with SQL error ..which means Application is not able to talk to DB.. check R3trans -d and paste the log.

Ershad Ahmed

check contents from file tnsnames.ora
it must contain an entry starting with P12.

The listener doesn't know the instance P12.
What did you do prior to stopping the machine? System copy?
Markus
