Transport of Assembled Software Components

Hi @all,

I am new in NWDI and I've got some questions to the transport logic. Please let me describe my problem:

Here in our project we're using the NWDI in combination with the WebBill (FSCM) application. The WebBill application consists of 4 SC's:

1. CORE (WebBill Main Part with extensions a.s.o.)

2. UI-1 (UI like mapping and jsp's of the WebBill)

3. UI-2 (Another UI of the WebBill)

4. FSCM Biller Direct (WebBill Coding Parts)

The CORE and the FSCM-Parts are excluded from the deployment and they are not transported to the follow-on tracks to further production-sap-backends. Only the UI-Parts can be deployed and transported to the follow-on-tracks.

Now I made changes to the CORE-Part, but the CORE-Part is not deployable. I've heared that it's only possible to make a new assembly with the UI-Components ("Assemble Components" in the Assembly-Part of the CMS). But what is with the follow-on tracks? Is it sufficient to transport only the UI-Components to the follow-on tracks because I've created an assembly from all of them?

Thank you very much in advance,

Stefan

Stefan,

Release to transport all activities in NWDS and assemble SC in CMS.

Assembly will always include all SC components.

Hi Slava,

thank you for your good answer, but there is one thing that is not clear for me yet.

What does that mean for the follow-on-tracks?

In the maintenance track, where the assembly is generated, the result is the CORE-Part and the UI-Part in the "test" and later in "approval" tab.

In the follow-on-track is no possibility to make an assembly again, there are only "consolidation" and "production" tabs. But the CORE-Part is excluded from transport to the follow-on-track, there I can only see the UI-Part. Does that mean that I only have to transport the UI-Part to the follow-on-track? Or should I do a manual transport of the CORE-Part to the follow-on-track?

Thank you in Advance,

Stefan

You should change the Transport Connection definition, so it will include the CORE SC as well.

Hi,

thank you for your answer, I keep that in mind to change. But is that neccessary after building the assembly with all SC's (UI and CORE) in the maintennance track? The reason why I want this to know is this:

Before I take over developing, my antecessor only sets the UI-SC's as deployable and transportable (to the follow-on track). And before I change the transport definition I will be sure if this way is neccessary.

Thank you very much in Advance,

Stefan

Yes, it is necessary to add your CORE SC to "Required Software Components" of the follow-on track if you want to import them to your PRD.

In the source track "Production" tab History you can use "Forward to Another Track" button to resend SC to the connected track.

Each SC gets its own SCA during Assembly: The CORE SCA is not part of one of the UI SCA's.
