hi,
In our system we are connecting to R/3 and SAP CRM systems.
But i want to know how the users in the R/3 and SAP CRM are coming in Enterprise Portal automatically.
What are steps we have to follow to connect to a backend system.
Thanks and Regards

Hi,
When we integrate Portal in the R/3 and SAP CRM
It is ABAP+J2EE installation, UME will be ABAP and so users are maintained in both portal and ABAP. If SSO is configured with Logon tickets, all R3 users can access portal using R/3 password itself.
Enterprise Portal can be integrated with the R/3 and SAP CRM while using System Object (Alias).
Steps we have to follow to connect to a backend system in Enterprise Portal
1) Login to Portal with user id having Super Admin role
2) create System Object>System Administration> System Configuration>System Landscape> portal Content >create a folder> right click select>new> System (for template)> select the radio button SAP system using dedicated application server> provide the System object name as you feel. Like
System Name: XXX
System ID: XXX
And click next-->next button. Property Editor will open. Under this.
3) Property Category> Connector>in this you have to provide to which System (R/3, SAP_CRM, and SAP_BW) you are connecting.
4) Property Category--> User Management
5) Property Category-->ITS
6) Property Category-->Web AS
By this way you can connect to the R/3 or SAP_CRM System.

Hi,
Users are maintained in UME. Depending on the type of installation, you can get the users in portal. If it is only J2EE installation, then UME is in Java stack only and so you can connect to backend R/3 using user mapping or Logon tickets. If it is ABAP+J2EE installation, UME will be ABAP and so same users are maintained in both portal and ABAP. If SSO is configured with Logon tickets, all R3 users can access portal using R/3 password itself.
