Ora-01033 after upgrade

Hi,

We have upgraded oracle 9.2.0.8 to 10.2.0.2.0 on AIX enviroment.

SAP release is 620.

We are facing following error when we are doing any archive or offline backup using EMC legato :

BR0280I BRARCHIVE time stamp: 2008-11-23 20.28.38

BR0301W SQL error -1033 at location BrDbConnect-2, SQL statement:

'CONNECT /'

ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress

BR0310W Connect to database instance R3E failed

BR0644I BR_TRACE: location BrDbConnect-2, SQL statement:

'CONNECT /'

BR0300I BR_TRACE: SQL code: -1033, number of processed rows: 0

ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress.

We tried with 6.40/700 kernel but error is still same.

Oracle is properly up and no recovery is required.

Kindly suggest.
