Data Management Package list Empty

HI:

I installed BPC 5.1 on MS Server platform, copied Apshell into a new Application set and started uploading data into RATE application. The file upload and view data worked. Whereas when I selected the action 'Run a data management package' the pop up appeared with empty list, I do not see import or other packages. Appreciate your help.

Thanks.

What is the COM object that corresponds to the data manager edata?

I'm not sure -- whenever standard things don't work, I always try to process the application as the first trouble-shooting step.

Sometimes data manager functions stop working, and I need to bounce the COM apps on the server, by killing the corresponding DLLHOST.EXE process. You can also open the com app node of Computer Management and select it by name, to stop it there.

I usually experience this when I try to run a package, and the packages themselves appear on the right side of the dialog box, but the package folders (within the "Company" node) take 10 or 20 or 30 seconds to appear. After bouncing the specific COM app that handles the data manager server, everything runs fine.

Of course, bouncing the com app is not without dangers -- it rudely interrupts anything that a user may be in the middle of processing.

Thanks for the response. I resolved the problem in a different way.

It turned out to be security access issue for the user. All access for DM was given and now I am able to see the packages.

Thanks
