OutlookSoft 4.2 Upgrade to BPC 7MS

Team,

Can I upgrade an Outlooksoft 4.2 system to BPC 7MS without having to upgrade to BPC 5.0 and 5.1 also? In SAP environments there are often technical upgrades where you need to follow an upgrade path, so no jumping the queue. But with the Microsoft BPC's can I go directly to BPC 7 MS ?

The answer is yes and no. The process to go from version BPC 4.X to 7.0 for Microsoft is more than a technical upgrade. It is a migration of the application set(s), due to the fact that the 4.2 structures were re-designed as part of the original movement to SOA design to version 5. There is a migration tool that is used during the RAMP-UP process and may be released after version 7.0M concludes ramp-up, but it only gets about 85-90% of the work completed. The fact that we also move from version SQL2000 to SQL2005 is the other big factor for the migration process.

In order to currently migrate to version 7, you or your customer would need to join the BPC ramp-up program. The 7 Series of BPC products will not be released to general public until they leave the ramp-up process. If you are unfamiliar with the process, I suggest contacted an SAP Account executive, cleint partner or other team member for more information. The program benefits both parties.

Hope this helps.
