Hi,
I am fairly new to BCS data Loading and I am trying to do some basic loading steps.
!. I have a virtual cube and a basic cube where the data in Virtual has open period data and data in basic cube has all the closed period data.
2. My question is when you create the basic cube and load the data how do you do that just a simple full load for closed period or is there any specific selection criteria that needs to be done to load data into basic cube from virtual cube
Any ideas will be really appreciated...................

We have a co-worker who is upgrading and migrating SEM-BCS to a new server. They have successfully migrated all the configuration. But the question is how to migrate the data in SEM-BCS. We have got a virtual infoprovider for reporting and also an InfoCube for Total Records. Please let us know how to migrate the historic data from one system to another?
I cannot find any documents

There are several options with respect to this.
A simple upgrade would not require any migration as the same infocubes would be used and the data would remain intact.
If, on the other hand, it is a re-implementation with the later version of SEM-BCS then it becomes a bit more complex. One option is to copy the data using the standard BCS logic designed for the BCS datamart concept and have a multicube scenario with the new BCS infocubes along with the datamart with the "old" data. In some cases it may be possible to use a single datamart with all of the old and new data.
In the SAP Service Marketplace, there is a very clear document regarding this. It refers to Datamart with BCS. I suggest you obtain this and it will provide the information required.
