HI

Any way to turn the batch management requirement checkbox once stock has been enter into the system in previous and current period?

One business user made a mistake and didn't turn on the feature until now.

regards

Wayne

Hi,

When sometimes it's too much of a hassle to clear off the batch stock and/or then put back later, you can change the indicator in MARA/MARC table using debugging mode. It might not be a good approach, but at times when there isn't much choice it could be the most efficient way.

But please bear in mind there are some consequences to this. Like maybe there could be extra tables when system updates the indicator in a MM02 transaction, besides updating it in MARA/MARC. This could lead to data inconsistencies later.

Thanks

Dont listen to this nonsense answer of Han Lun Chan .

If you change the indicator in material master tables, then you certainly create inconsistencies. As you would have stock without batches , while the material master demands to have batches. So you create deadlock situation in the system, you will not be able to post goods movements for this existing stock.

If it would be that easy, then SAP would not do all the checks and restrictions for this tiny little check box in the material master.

See OSS note 30656 it explains what you need to do.

Guys thanks for your response!

Looks like my user and I need to do the hard way:- close every open orders, flush out the stocks this period and earlier period, tick on the checkbox and then post it back.

No, I wont do the "debug" method.

Thanks once again.

Once there exists stock, you can not change the Batch Checkbox.

To do this, first post out all the stock in current and previous periods to an interim G/l Accnt, and change the Indicator, then re-post all the stocks back

hi,

You can't do it directly...

Its better to make the stock zero by transfering to the other place...

THen turn on the batch management,,,and then assign the stock to the batch management and get back the materials...
