Selective Expansion of Nodes Requirement in Reports

I tried looking in the Delivered Templates and used the EVDRE function for my requirement but did not find the exact solution.

The users would like to manually select nodes in multiple line items, say Assets, Liabilities and Revenue in three line items. They would like to expand on Assets Node to the next level and so forth but retain Liabilites and Revenue at the Summary level itself.

I tried this using the DrillinPlace template and it works fine, but it only pulls the nodes in the order of the hierarchy (Assets, Liabilites and Equity and not Revenue). Can the users enplode on a given node to the next level and then click on one of the nodes in the result and get down to the base level members, while keeping the rest of the results still displaying.

Are there any sample reports available on EVEXP function.
