Using step group in ccBPM

Hi,

We are using PI 7.1. We have defined a step group (with transformation, send and receiver steps) into a SWC. In another SWC we have a ccBPM where we want to use the step group. Both SWCs are associated.

When we insert the step group into the ccBPM and we set up the steps for the step group, these changes are not saved!!!

We have disabled the flag "cannot be changed", but the changes are not kept and therefore we cannot active the ccBPM.

What is the problem?

Thanks in advance,

Samantha.

Hi Samantha

Just though if you have defined any properties for the step group which refer to any container element. If thats the case then its not going to work

With this when you define step group and make change to it. it shows change only to the process you use this step group after the change and not in previous one.

I have not worked on this much so may be what you are facing is a bug. Try to open a note on the same.

Thanks

Hi Samantha!

In my understanding a usage dependency of SWC's in fact means that in the dependent SWC you can re-use the components of the basis SWC as they are, but you cannot change them. If you want to change them you have to copy them into your current SWC.

Hope this helps!

Hi Volker,

We have copied the step group into our currrent SWC. We have inserted it into the ccBPM and have introduced changes in all steps. For transformation steps these changes are not kept. However, the changes made on send and receiver steps are kept.

Why does this occur?

Hi Samantha!

What kind of changes do you try to apply to the transformation steps? Did you also copy the underlying Interface Mappings?

HI Samantha

You are trying to copy the objects which are referring to another objects. Instead of doing this create a new one.

What are the changes you are trying to achieve after copy. I think you missed some references.

Thanks

Hi all,

We copied the step group to the current SWC. Once this done, we have tried two things:

1. Using objects from the other SWC (Service Interfaces) to set up the transformation steps. These changes are not kept.

2. We have created new objects into the current SWC (Operation Mappings and Service Interfaces) to set up the transformation steps. That is to say, into the SWC we have created from scratch all objects that we need to configure our steps. However, when we modify the steps, the changes are not kept either.

If it is necessary to create all objects again into the new SWC, then the step groups are not too useful...

Any another idea?

Samantha.

Hi Samantha!

I agree with you that this behaviour is very strange and that in fact usage dependencies under these circumcances make more or less no sense ...

If I would be you I would open a CSN at SMP, but directly pointing out that this cannot be a (remote) consulting issue, because a feature does not work and the official SAP documentation does not say, that this does not work ....

Sorry to be not able to give you a better advice at the moment.

Enjoy your weekend!
