Material group and purchasing group

May i know what is the impact if this 2 field is not maintain in material master?for example PO creation.

During PO creating you will have to enter the purchasing group anyway whether you maintain it in material master or not.

Material group is not a mandatory for stock materials in PO, but for reporting purpose it needs to be maintaned

Purchasing group is a mandatory field in PO, as these are the responsible group to interact with the vendors and further day to day processing

May i know what is the possible error/impact if the material group is blank during PR/PO creation?

Hello

If you are creating a materail with material master record, the material group will get copied from the masters to the PR/PO.

And if you are cerating for a materail with description (without material master), system will ask for material/service group or material number. As as there is no material number we have to maintain the material group in PR/PO.
