Dear SAP gurus,
I am new to Product costing...
We are starting a New Implementation of Product Costing. The current scenario is one controlling area for two different company codes.
At the time of configuration what settings needs to be configured Individually
Ex:
a) Cost Component Structure should be different company code wise
b) Variance Key has to be different company code wise
c) Work in progress Configurations has to be different
d) Cost Center Hierarchy

Dear Rajagopala,
With same controlling area you can have a different or same setting for the below. Generally if the both the company codes are in same line of product business and nature is also same, my recommendation will be to go with same setting as you can compare for the different cost data
a) Cost Component Structure should be different company code wise
b) Variance Key has to be different company code wise
c) Work in progress Configurations has to be different
For Cost Center hierarchy, it is maintained at controlling area level so you cannot differentiate b/w 2 company codes. You can use cost center groups for your reporting purpose in that case.

Hi,
With same controlling are, you can have separate setting for cost component structure, wip/variance calculation. But standard hierarchy need to define at controlling area level. anyhow you can use cost center group for reporting purpose
