SAP Components for building ESOA?

Hi,

I am writing a thesis which involves critical evaluation of SAP PI for implementation of ESOA. I was thinking what are the SAP components(tools/software) that are required to build SOA and how do they work with each other? Can anyone provide me the placement of components with some kind of architecture and their interaction with relevant diagram ?
