Why is HANA Upgrade Max Used Memory Spiking when no application or process changes made?

We run on ECC 6.0 EHP 7 Suite on HANA. On April 12, 2018, we upgraded DB to HANA 1.00.122.12. The following Graph shows a dramatic change to HANA Used memory activity when comparing post to prior. We also replicate to a backup DB for DR purposes. We turned on log replay and compression during the upgrade and assumed the parameter change might be responsible for the peaks which are at nearly regular intervals. We have since turned both off (FALSE) and still get the behavior.

We have not seen any job that executes at these regular intervals that requires the resources demonstrated by the graph.

Has anyone seen this type of behavior change post upgrade?

Hi,

During the upgrade of HANA, several latest HANA delivery units such as HANA_XS_BASE.tgz would be deployed into HANA. It could be the reason of memory usage.
Alternatively, you could generate runtime during the upgrade and following note 1999997 “FAQ: SAP HANA Memory” for further anlaysis.
