Analysis for Office: Planning Group won't save in Customize User Interface

Hi Folks,

The default user interface does not include the Planning Group, with buttons such as Save Data and Lock Cells. Normally we add this by going to Analysis > Customize User Interface, and adding a new default profile. For this to take effect, we have to close and reopen Excel.

For some reason, after reopening Excel, the applied profile still defaults to the Read Only standard, and the Planning Group stays hidden. This makes it impossible to turn on the Planning ribbon.

Has anybody seen this behavior before, and knows a clever fix?

Which version/SP of Analysis Office are you using? I think I have a recording in this blog about customizing the UI https://blogs.sap.com/2018/03/11/sharing-experiences-with-analysis-office-2.5-2.6-bihana2018/

Hi Tammy,

Fast response as always! I'm on 2.6.2
I've seen your blog many times. The issue is that the customization to the ribbon does not save, and when I reopen Excel the changes are gone, leaving me permanently unable to activate the save button etc.

Elliott - one more idea is to try this on a machine where you have Administrator rights in Windows. Are you using Excel 2016?

Yup, I do have admin rights on this laptop, and using 2016.
I tried opening with 'Run in Administrator Mode' and using both Excel and the Analysis for Office launcher just in case that made a difference, no luck!

Wow! At this point, I would open an incident with SAP Support at support.sap.com - I'll try to do some more research too

Hi Elliott,

Please try step 4 in this KBA - https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2325423 - maybe that helps?

We were eventually able to resolve this issue by completely uninstalling Analysis for Office including registry keys, and reinstalling the latest version. It appears this was caused by a faulty installation.
