Changing standard SAP delivered Characteristics

Hi All,

PPPI_MATERIAL_SHORT_TEXT is a standard SAP delivered characteristic with a limitation of 30 char. I want to change this to 42, for requirement on my Shop Floor system.

Is it possible to change the number of characteristics of the Standard SAP delivered characteristic?? if yes, how ??

Hi Andy,

Not only PPPI_MATERIAL_SHORT_TEXT but this limit of max. 30 Character is for all the Characteristics.And as it is standard you can not change it.Better will be ask SAP may be they have made some provision for it.

You cannot change this, if you goto change you get this message Characteristic from reserved name range: change not allowed.

so i prefer you to create new one by copying with reference to PPPI_MATERIAL_SHORT_TEXT
