Hi,

My platform work correctly when i'm connected to internet, but if i am somewhere there is no internet, the application server not started and my connection failed.

Is it normal?

For information, with the old package of trial version, i could use it in all conditions.

Thanks

Arnaud

How to install the Microsoft Loopback Adapter

The AS Java Server and AS ABAP Server require the machine on which they are installed to have an active network connection when the Server is started. When an active physical network connection is unavailable (e.g. on a plane), the Microsoft Loopback Adapter can be used to provide a virtual network connection thus allowing the Server to start.

Documentation on how to install the MS Loopback Adapter can be found on the Internet ... use Google and search for 'loopback adapter'.

At time of writing, the URL I found was http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;839013.

For quick reference, the steps contained in the referenced article are summarized below.

Manual installation

To manually install the Microsoft Loopback adapter in Windows XP, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

2. If you are in Classic view, click Switch to Category View under Control Panel in the left pane.

3. Double-click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Next.

4. Under See Also in the left pane, click Add Hardware, and then click Next.

5. Click Yes, I have already connected the hardware, and then click Next.

6. At the bottom of the list, click Add a new hardware device, and then click Next.

7. Click Install the hardware that I manually select from a list, and then click Next.

8. Click Network adapters, and then click Next.

9. In the Manufacturer box, click Microsoft.

10. In the Network Adapter box, click Microsoft Loopback Adapter, and then click Next.

11. Click Finish.

12. Open the Network Connections window (Start, Connect To, Show all connections) and optionally rename the Microsoft Loopback Adapter connection to MS Loopback then change the adapter's properties (context menu option Properties) such that its Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item is selected (checked), if it isn't already, and then set the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties General to 'Use the following IP address' and set the IP address to 10.10.0.10 and the Subnet mask set to 255.255.255.0 (you can leave all other fields in the window empty)

After installing the Loopback Adapter, update the 'hosts' file in directory 'windows/system32/drivers/etc' to include the entry:

10.10.0.10 <your computer name>

Is it internet you're missing or network alltogether? SAP needs some kind of network and if no physical network is availabe that should be your loopback adapter.

Agree with Jurjen...I got the same problem...My NSP worked awesome with Internet connection...But without it...It couldn't run...I was about to write SAP complaining, until I read the documentation...Install the MS Loopback adapter...Feel really ashamed of myself and start working off-line -:)

Greetings,

Blag.
