Which version of QaaWS do you use?

If you use QaaWS XI 3.0, the best way to sort the data is to sort the data when you design the QaaWS WSDL. Try this:

    1) Launch QaaWS XI 3.0.

    2) New a query and select a universe, click Next.

    3) On "Build your query" panel, click "manage sorts" button above objects browser.

    4) In the poped sort dialogm set the sort field of your data.

    5) Select the result objects.

    6) Click Next to preview the data.

    Now the data are sorted.

    7) Publish the WSDL.

Use this sorted WSDL in Xcelsius, the retrieved data should be also sorted.

In the QaaWS client application itself, or in Xcelsius?

If it's in QaaWS cilent application, on the results window, you can click on the headers of each column to sort results that way.

In Xcelsius however, I don't believe there is a way to sort return results. Xcelsius will simply return data in the order that it sees first to last. For example, if the Web Service returns:

    A, Z, D, G, H

    Xcelsius will display just that.

You can however, use a List View component to "display" the data in a sorted fashion. All you would have to is manually enter the headers for each column since QaaWS will only return data, not column headers.

I also tried sorting my results queried off a universe leveraging a BEx query. Although in the QaaWS-Wizzard, the sorting icon is shown, the results won't be sorted. I think I've read somewhere, the sorting won't work on OLAP-universes.

    Can anybody confirm this?
