How many levels can you drill down in an Xcelsius dashboard

Hello,

I want to find out if we can drill down from one dashboard to another dashboard and then another dashboard in Xcelsius Enterprise.

I know that we can drill down from one level to another, however there are no examples in it. Are there any examples of these using QAAWS

Alternatively, you can drill drown in Dashboard Builder also, and I heard that dashboard Builder also connects to the universe data. Is it easy to you dashboard Builder instead.

Dashboard Builder is extremely simple to use.

The linking capabilities are both easy to configure and effective in communicating data between SWFs.

I've not tried 3 layers, however, I think a Dashboard that linked two SWFs in a Provider>Consumer relation, then in the Consumer drilled down into another SWF might be possible.

Great to know that dashboard Builder connects directly with the BO uiniverse. Are there any examples of it.

Beseides, do you have any examples which you can share where one uses QAAWS to connect to BO universe depicting multiple levels levels of drill down.

I'm not sure if the universes can be connected to directly from Dashboard. I actually meant that Xcelsius SWFs can be embedded in the dashboard, linked via the new SWF linking tools in BOE 3.1, information passed from Provider to Consumer, and then Consumer can perform further drilldown.

Can Xcelsius drill down from one dashboard to another dashboard.

eg) I have a scenario where I have a dashboard with policy data in it. When a user clicks a certain policy number another dashboard with claims data should be displayed, and when a person clicks a claims number another dashboard displays with details of claims.

It is not posible for all the data to reside in the same spreadsheet. I would like to get access to the drill down examples in Xcelsius using QAAWS if possible. is it possible to explain it via email or some other way. My number in case you need a further explanation is 978 804 2951.

When you say "Dashboard" do you mean the Xcelsius model/visualization?

If so, then the answer is yes. You can embed an Xcelsius SWF into a Slideshow component, and thus have one model inside another. In BOE InfoView, this can be done dynamically, as in your given scenario, with OpenDoc URLs.

Thanks for the suggesstion. When I say dashboard, the following.

In my demo I have 10 dashboards ie: each dashboard comprises of 5 filter values and spreadsheet table or a graph. When I click the Ist graph say of Policies, it should take me to the next ppt which has Claims for the policy, and when I click a particular claim I should get to the details of that claim which is another dashboard component or widget. Is this possible. I will be using Xcelsius and QAAWS to connect to the universe only. I am not using Infor view etc. I need to find out if I can also deploy that on sharepoint.

Does Xcelsisus support alerts in the spread sheet table. I Need to create RED, GREEN & YELLOW colors for certain values in the cell.

Is it possible to explain or send you a snapshot of what I am looking for just to clarify.

I want to find out if I have a chart, then can I drill down to the lower level chart and then another lower level chart. (Note the 3 chart is not present in the same dashboard but some other XLF file. ) Besides, I want to find out if one can drill down from a chart or spreadsheet table to a webi report.

Can you please elaborate on it. I will be using Xcelsius Enterprise and BOE 3.1. based on your tip, I was able to embedd the swf file, however how do I drill to it from another graph or table.

Are there any example of drill down using QAAWS which I can leverage. All examples are pretty basic. Again, I need to drill down from one graph to a policy level field in a table.

There are many ways.

The simplest way to load a separate SWF would be to use a dynamic reference in the Slide Show, either with local machine file reference or open doc URL. For open doc URL, read the previous links. For a local machine reference, just type the list of local machine paths (e.g. c:\documents and settings\user\desktop\folder\filename.swf) into the Excel sheet. Then use a selector to insert them to a cell, and use that cell as the binding for the Slide Show.

For BOE 3.1, you upload SWFs to the server and then login to it through InfoView. Once logged in, there is a Dashboard tab, which allows you to create the dashboards. Once there, you can add SWFs to the dashboard canvas and then select a Linking option, with which the dashboards will pass information from Provider to Consumer (requires using "Portal Data" connection).

Unfortunately, I don't know of any QaaWS examples to give you.

However, your given example doesn't require completely separate dashboards. You can accomplish this with several different QaaWS connections, each connection set to trigger based on the user selection of the previous connection. Just set the output values of QaaWS numbers 2+ to the data of a selector, such as a combo box. Then when the user makes a selection, have that selection insert to a cell and use that cell as both the Input Value and Trigger of the next QaaWS.

Are all 3 possible or just 2 or just 3.

By embedding SWFs in a Slide Show component and using dynamic url binding, yes.

By using data insert and dynamic vis or Excel lookup formulas, yes.

I don't know about that one. I guess you could preload them, then use lookup formulas to choose data subsets.

If I have a scenario where I need to drill down from one chart to another table which may be located on a separate sheet or model. Is this possible.

Can we perform sorting on the values in the spreadsheet table, as well as have alert functionality embedded in a spreadheet table.

Besides, Is it possible to have the values of the drop down change and the data in the graph change only after the final REFRESH button is pressed. is it possible to type in the letter 'w' and have only w words appear in the drop down list, as opposed to scrolling to the letter w
