Dear All,
We are planning to migrate the existing OS(Windows/SOLARIS) to LINUX(RedHat 7.2) platform.
The actual migration is planned in coming months now the project is in design phase.
We proposed the ORACLE RAC HA for the customer, so we need the suggestion on the SAP part for RAC ASM.
Present systems, ECC is in SOLARIS with ORACLE 11g and EP system is in WINDOWS 2008 with ORACLE 11g.
We are not going to use any OS clusters, need to use the ORACLE ASM for cluster solution.
Could you please advise how to install ASCS/SCS in the 4 node with distributed environment or 2 node with combined environment ORACLE RAC with ASM. Without any Hardware cluster usage.
Please give us the possible solution for the migration method, like when should we do the RAC setup,
before the migration or migration.
If, it's before the migration how to handle the data migration in both the nodes for 2 node HA, and same for after migration also.
And also TEST system is going to put in the single node RAC. Please provide/suggest the methodology.
Any one is implemented such kind of RAC set up without any HW cluster.
Quick help is appreciated.
Thanks in Advance,

Hi,
You go to the "oracle" Topic.
http://go.sap.com/community/topic/oracle.html
go down a couple of "pages" (will depend on your computer resolution) and you find on the right several links.one is
Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)
and the other is
Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM)
there you have the information you are looking for about ASM (it does not need any "non oracle" cluster hardware), RAC and ASCS/SCS (
it does not makes sense to have a production RAC with x nodes and a test syste with one node, it will not be a TEST system, you are testing in a different kind of environment. (if you are talking about a "normal" RAC but only one instance)
SAP Note 105047 - "Support for Oracle functions in the SAP environment" clearly indicates that:
RAC One Node (Oracle 11g or higher) is not allowed.

Hi Fidel,
Thanks for the Reply, I am looking for the RAC and ASM without Hardware cluster. Need solution for the ASCS/SCS installation on the RAC.
Could you please suggest, exact link or whitepaper if any?.
Yes, customer is asking to implement single node RAC for TEST system.
Customer is strictly asking to implement the Single node. Is there any supporting document for proof to show to customer that single node RAC for SAP will not support?.
Quick help is qppreciated.
Best Regards,
Mohan.

Hello,
all documentation is on this site. On the right you have menu for "RAC" and "ASM" with the documentation required.
"single node RAC" (are you talking about RAC one node?) is not supported
