Which module is best for Mechanical engineer which have one year experience in production dept?

I want to explore my career as an SAP Consultant. But I have confusion regarding best suitable module for me.

First I Thing that as a fresher I have to learn technical module like ABAP but when I goes for inquiry in local SAP Certified training center they suggest me to do Functional module i.e.MM module and they also told me that if I did training in ABAP I did not get opportunity of interview as my background is in mechanical engineering and recruiters reject my resume.

Please suggest me which module best for me MM OR ABAP.
