What has changed in the price hierarchy when the option to override it has been added?

Hi

Since the update of SAP 9.2 to 9.3 there is a possibility to override the price hierarchy. In the Business Partner MD in the tab Payment Terms you can choose to set the effective price to default, lowest price or highest price. The default hierarchy still works with default hierarchy but when you try to override the hierarchy by setting lowest or highest price, this will not work. The price that SAP picks seems not logical.

For example

- Normal price --> 100$

- Volume and period discount: 40% discount on the same item for the same period for the same BP --> 60$

- Discount group: 30% discount on the same item for the same period for the same BP --> 70$

- Special price for the business partner: 20% discount on the same item for the same period for the same BP --> 80$

When i choose lowest price as override it should give 40% procent discount i think? How come this does not happen and the system chooses the discount group?

When i choose highest price it chooses the special price for business partners. How come it does not choose the normal price?

This is very important for us as SAP business one is based on pricing. This override function does not work the way it is communicated. I hope there is a logical and clear explenation for this

Hi Wouter,

I do not know what B1's pricing logic is in this case, but I have heard of at least one other case where it was not sufficient. That customer had an addon built for them, to control pricing even more precise than what you would expect from B1 as you described above.

If you like I can put you in touch with the developer.

Johan

Hi Johan,

Can you put me in contact with somebody who does know the pricing logic?

Hi Wouter,

I am sorry, my B1 version does not have this functionality yet, so I am not familiar with it. Your SAP Partner however should be able to tell you, and/or provide documentation on the specific logic.

You say "...This override function does not work the way it is communicated...". How was it communicated?

Also, there is a chance that for the system to work as expected, you need to set other settings as well. Another equally likely chance is that this is a bug, that has been fixed in a newer patch or version, or that is going to be fixed in a future patch.

Hi Johan,

I am an intern at a silver SAP partner. This is why we want to clear this new feature out as soon as possible to communicate correctly to customers.

You can look at my example for the way it should be. When you override the default system (price hierarchy) and you choose the setting 'highest price' then it should take the highest price. However this does not happen. When i choose lowest price, this does not happen as well.

You can read the way it is communicated on the SAP help portal

We are working with the most recent version of SAP business one where this override function is added

Hi Wouter,

If the system does not function according to the documentation in the help portal, you can check SAP notes for any mention of known problems, and if there aren't any notes on the subject, you should post a support ticket. Considering that this is a new feature, it is entirely likely that you have discovered a bug.

Johan
