How to do XML based archiving?

Refer to the documents on SDN. There are a few guides on Archiving and Deleting messages on XI.

That should be the right place to start.

Hello Linda,

For information on XML archiving (as opposed to XI archiving), please refer to archive object bc_sbook_x as an example XLM archive object.

There is also some information on this topic on the 2nd edition of Archiving Your SAP Data from SAP Press as well.
