For Example, If I have compounded 0Material to 0SourceSystem, then
1. How the SID's are generated?. One SID table for 0material and 0source combination or a separate SIDs for each of 0Material and 0SourceSystem.
2. How the compounding effects cube modeling? If I include 0Material in one dimension, then 0SourceSystem is automatically included, or it must be included, or it may or may not be included.
3. How the compounding effects in query design and in BEx.
Hi,
1)The SID'S will be generated for the each individual combination and not for each char ,each unique combination will be treated as key.
2)It will get included in the dimension automatically and will not let you activate if you will not include all the compounding characteristics in the cube.Characteristics need not be in the same dimension and can be part of other dimensions.
3)In the query designer it will show you the values of key figures or other characteristics with references to the each key combination from the master data table of this compounded characteristics.
It will be based on the SID'S already created in the master data tables and DIM ID's that got created while data loading.
You cannot change it and the value will get dsplayed like A\B.
Where A is compounded with B.
Thanks

Thanks Ajeet. Very Helpful answer. However I got a few doubts now..
1. Can we compound if the characteristic already involved in Cubes and ODSs.
2. How the descriptions are stored. For Example, 0material is "books", and the corresponding 0SourceSystem is "ECC". Then how/where these are stored.
Thanks
Mani.
1. Can we compound if the characteristic already involved in Cubes and ODSs.
Ans : No you cannot you need to delete data and reload.
2. How the descriptions are stored. For Example, 0material is "books", and the corresponding 0SourceSystem is "ECC". Then how/where these are stored.
Ans : for 0MATERIAL it will be store like
Number : ECC/<material number>
Text : books.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
1)Can be done but after doing this the DSO and the cubes will become inactive as for them its like changing of there fields. So you will have to activate them again.
This cannot be done if there is data already in the cubes and DSO.
2)The description are not stored any where I guess...its at the runtime that the system combines there respective text together.
So it will be books/ECC.
Thanks
Ajeet
