How SAP calculate exchange gain/loss while clearing AR?

Dear Experts,

Please take a look of this document snapshot and the text I attached, which is the cleared document list.

As you can see, most of AR were posted between 2018/03/07 and 2018/03/09, and the exchange rates are 29.25, 29.26 and 29.275 (USD to TWD).

The clear date is 2018/04/23, and the rate is 29.405.

There is one payment from customer is 3,500,000 HKD, 2018/04/20.

When SAP calculate the exchange gain and loss, it generated the first line of 77.38 USD, which we know it's because of the payment of 3,500,000 HKD, But we don't understand how lines 8 to 11 come out with such big numbers (in the red box).

Total AR = 3,886,073 USD = 114,269,977 TWD on 4/23, and 113,689,887 when posting. Payment receiving: 3,500,000HKD and 1,000,000 USD on 4/20 and 2,440,000 USD on 4/23.

Can you tell me how 5,523,699, 42,539,738 and 47,541,774 been calculated?

Thank you so much!

Joanne

    Hi Joane,

    It's strange the 77,38 USD in the first line. If it is an P/L for Exchange Rate in general it has got 0 in Doc Curr and some amount in Loc Curr, as you have in pos 8 to 11.

    Debit Amount => 3.935.365,73 USD 115.131.808,00 TWD

    Credit Amount => 3.886.072,96 USD 114.202.700,00 TWD

    Diff 49.202,77 USD 929.108,00 TWD

    If Ex Rate for 04/23 is 29,405, then.

    49.202,77 * 29,405 = 1.449.453,90 => rounds to 1.449.454,00

    Diff2 = 929.108 - 1449,454 = - 520.346

    If you sum line 1, 8, 9, 10, 11 you get -520.346 TWD.

    Why do you have diferent lines for Ex.Rate Diff ?

    It could be because you have different accounts in OBA1 for Ex Rate.

    Hope this clarifies .

    Kind Regards
