HI Gurus,

I am facing a situation where i need to import the Transport Request from one landscape to another.

Consider i have two landscapes DE1 TE1 PE1 and DE2 TE2 PR2. and both the landscapes are on

different release.

I have created a Transport Request DE1Kxxxxxx.

And now i want to use this transport request in the other landscape of DE2 TE2 PR2.

How can i do that. Is there any process in using the Transport Request created in another landscape of different release.

Please guide me.

Thanks in Advance,

Sachin Kumar.

Hi sachin,

you can transport the request from OS level. for that do as follow.

First take <SID>KXXXXXX from /usr/sap/trans/cofiles and <SID>RXXXXXX from /usr/sap/trans/data from DE1 and put the file KXXXXXX anf RXXXXXX at the same path in DE2.

Now login in to SAP in DE2.

Runt t.code STMA_IMPORT and add the request in import queue from menu path Extra --> Other Request --> Add. (this step is require if your request is not diaplay in import queue)

Now Import the request in DE2.

Hope it will work.

Hi Sachin,

1> Transfer corresponding data file and cofile to target system.

2> Create that transport from STMS -> Click Overvie import -> Select your Dev system i.e DE2XXX, -> Go in Import queue system screen -> On top its Extras - Other request -> Add.

3> Mention your orignal transport number from DE1XXX... dont import anything

4>Go in SE01 create new transport request, this request will be in form of DE2XXXX

5>Now copy the conent of DE1XXX transport to newly created DE2XXXX transport......

Hope this will help

Hi Amit,

Thanks a lot for the reply .

I am somewhat unclear about the steps 3 to 5. Could you please explain in detail the steps 3 -5.

Thanks,

Sachin

As mentioned at the end of Step2 Click Add, you will have to enter your request from DE1 ie DE1XXX

Step 3 is for -: Even you have place your data and cofiles in respectove directory on target system ie DE2 and you wish to import the request DE1XXXXX, you wont find that request in import queue.

Since data file and cofiles are present in your target system you can perform the steps as mentioned in Step2. So you will able to see your transport DE1XXXX in import queue of DE2.

Now if you want you can import the request right away....

But if you want to avoid confusion as you will see request DE1XXX in DE2 and later on QA and PRD,

you can perform as per step 4 and 5.

Hope i clear your dubt

Hi Amit,

Thank you very much for the solutions. I was pretty clear with the solution 1 u have provided.

But with the other solution

4>Go in SE01 create new transport request, this request will be in form of DE2XXXX

5>Now copy the conent of DE1XXX transport to newly created DE2XXXX transport......

can you please explain the process in Step 5.

Thanks in Advance,

Sachin Kumar.

Hi Sachin,

As you usnderstand upto step 3. Now your transport DE1XXXX in system DE2.

I assume you have enviornment as DE2->QA2->PRD

Now if you want to avoid confusion, because you will see DE1XXXX transport in your second enviornment i.e in DE2 where your transport should start with DE2XXXX. You can perform step 4 and 5.

Step 5-: Now upto step 4, you have your orignal transport DE1XXXX in system DE2. Consider tr DE1XXXX contain ABC object by any developer, now as i mention above if only you want to avoid confusion, create new transport in DE2 that will be as DE2XXXX and add content of transport DE1XXXX which are ABC to DE2XXXX. So now your tr DE2XXXX contain objects ABC( which are from tr DE1XXXX). You can fwd tr DW2XXXX further to QA2 which will avoid confusion.

Step 4 and 5 are not mandatory, you can perform import of DE1XXXX in DE2 directly also.

Amit,

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation of the issue.

And one more question on the steps 4 and 5...how can i add content of DE1xxxx to DE2xxxx as stated in the below statement.

create new transport in DE2 that will be as DE2XXXX and add content of transport DE1XXXX which are ABC to DE2XXXX.

Thanks a ton for the responses Amit.

1> Go in DE2 create request i.e. DE2XXXXX

2> Go in SE01 put above request i.e DE2XXXX and click display.

3> Single click on your request and on top you have option on tool bar as Include Objects click on that.

4> Select first option i.e Object list from request and put your request i.e DE1XXXX in given field.

5> Click continue.

You are done, objects of DE1XXXXX are added into DE2XXXX

Hi,

Just copy the both data and cofiles to second landscape....then chage the request naming convention....But if there is any developments it will not work....because of corrections of SAP programs depends upon the installation numbers.
