SAP HCP connectivity to non SAP/ non cloud Systems

Hi Team,

We are on S/4 Hana and our requirement is to create an app on HCP and host it on the Hana cloud platform. This app needs to get the foreign exchange rate data from the external system and push it on to SAP. In 1610 version, SAP has given an app 'Import Foreign Exchange Rates' which pushes the data to SAP. We are planning to leverage the Odata service MDIF_UPLOAD_SRV of this app to push the exchange rates to SAP.

Could you please answer the below queries:

1. How to handle the app connectivity to external system? (considering they are using some REST API's). Do we require any middleware?

2. How to deploy the custom app on HCP?

3. Can we leverage the odata service MDIF_UPLOAD_SRV to push data into SAP?

4. Any suggestions that needs to be taken care as this is the first time I am going to build an app.
