Dep calculation problem

Hi all,

Asset purchased Period 1 (31-July-08) 139,075.71 another acquicition of 1,062.35 on 31.08.08... Planned dep for the whole year totals up to 28,027.61.

In asset explorer, under posted dep, the planned values for december, jan etc are 2,335.64 so if you multiply by 12 turns up to be the 28,027.61.. so its straight line dep at 20%

Que1,

but now when i look in AS01N it shows me a dep posted in July (period 1) 3,824.58-, (why did it post dep for july when it was only acquired on the 31st july)

Que 2

dep posted for aug sept and oct are 3,883.01-, 3,853.81- and 2,218.87 respectively.. Why there amounts and not the planned amount of 2,335.64

Que 3

Why on in asset explorer the Ord dep amount is lying at 9, 342,53 (2,218.87 x 4) when it should be the actual dep for the month of july aug sept and oct which is approx 13,778

thanks

    Hi,

    Q1:

The start period of depreciation calculation is controlled by the Period control method. Check the setting there in Acquisitions column.

    Q2:

Not able to conclude with given information.

    Q3:

This may be because the depreciation is computed from the start of the fiscal year (starts from April?). This again is controlled by the Period Control Method.

    Thanks
