crystal report windows auth bi platform 4.1

using bi platform 4.1 (windows authentication but not SSO)
crystal report 2011
create report upload to server
server has odbc set to use windows auth to connect to sql server (we have to use a windows admin account to create odbc that is different from our personal login so we can't test the datasource)

if I choose to use "odbc" or "data source in report" and input service account or my account info the report can be run in BI Launchpad. until I upload another report. then I get CRWEB00000119. SO I am guessing it is working until the session is broken or something?

what is the correct process? what should I choose in database connection in BI platform and in odbc administrator to use a service account to access a sql server database with windows authentication?
if I need to have the service account that the platform is running on do I just leave the account and password blank?

thanks for any help
