Error during SAP system uninstall!!

Former Member

Dear experts

While I was trying to uninstall a sap system, when I run sapinst and at the

"Define Parameters - Oracle > Uninstall,

I cannot choose the option "Remove Database (without database software)" .

It is grayout and says whether the Database cannot be started or it is not running.

But the database is running.

How can I solve this?

Hi,

I don't know if this is still a valid question, but.

Is this system a double-stack or in other words ABAP+JAVA or MCOD System? In case 2 or more SAP System is sharing the same database, it might be a valid decision to grey out this option. But in any way, even if SWPM does not provide this option, you can still use the official removal tool called "deinstall". This is an Oracle tool located within the Oracle Software location and with this you can uninstall the Oracle Software and also the Database "attached" to it.

More information is documented in below SAP notes:

Hi,

First uninstall just the application then use oracle universal installer to uninstall the database.

Hi,

Can you please show from begining for the screenshot how you navigated to Oracle > Uninstall?

Also attach the sapinst traces folder.

Best regards,

Hello

I was able to solve the problem.

While, starting the installer I should have execute below command.

./sapinst SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<hostname>

instead of just ./sapinst
