client export

Hi Gurus,

I have to do client copy.It is done using t-code SCC8 .But in the profiles given by SAP I would like to know the function of each profile.

Sap profile

SAP_ALL All Client-Specific Data w/o Change Documents

SAP_CUST Customizing

SAP_CUSV Customizing and User Variants

SAP_CUSX Customizing w/o Authorization Profiles and Roles

SAP_EXBC Customizing, Users and Cross-Client Customizing

SAP_EXPA SAP_ALL with Cross-Client Customizing

SAP_EXPC Customizing Including Cross-Client Customizing

SAP_PROF Only Authorization Profiles and Roles

SAP_RECO Recovery (Only if Source Client = Target Client)

SAP_UCSV Customizing, User Master Records and User Variants

SAP_UCUS Customizing and User Master Records

SAP_UONL User Without Authorization Profiles and Roles

SAP_USER User Master Records and Authorization Profiles

My requirement is

1 If I want to copy the configurations only.

2 If I want to copy both confugurations and masterdata

which profile has to be selected.

Moreover if I want to purge the transaction data entered in production server how it can be done.

& u want to copy coniguration & master data use this profile SAP_UCUS.

Hello ,

From your messages it seems that remote client copy is needed to be done .

As per SAP recomendations ( also depends on your release of system )do not use client export method but go for remote client copy

The comparison is

1. remote client copy method with SCC9 ( uses network resources,users can not work untill copy is finished on both source and target )

2. client export /import method ( not really recommended by SAP , can take time to export and then import , users can login to source once export from source is done )

You need to decide which best suites your requirements.

You are not supposed to purge the Transaction data in Production environment, yes you can purge the LOG file if you are using MSSQL server(only for MSSQL) but not for transaction data, You can make use of Archiving to make room.

Copy SAP_UCUS profile.

Here u get both the customizing data(created by the user) and User Master data(user master records)

Hai,

Actually SAP_CUST is the profile to be copied/exported for the first time, if you need all the functionalities you can copy SAP_ALL, I guess you might be knowing already.
