Auto start of sap instances in MSCS cluster after a reboot

I have two Windows servers in MSCS cluster with spofs (CI and DB) in cluster groups. I also have two dialog instances. I am aware of the parameter Autostart = 1 and use it for web dispatcher and other SAP non-clustered systems. I remember reading not to use this parameter in a clustered environment. When I reboot the server, the services start up but not the actual system. At this point the DIs have to go over to the primary instance of the cluster to read the profile file to start.

Could anybody advise how I can achieve autostart of SAP instances in both clustered and standalone servers.

Thanks,

Raj

Hi,

Thanks for taking time and responding. I actually was thinking about the Autostart parameter and I think we should not set that up for resources that are part of the cluster group, in our case it is CI and DB. The actual server processes are not part of the cluster, so I set up that parameter in the start profile instances and now when I reboot, the application also starts up.

Hi Raj,

short question: You mention "CI", so Central Instance. Does this CI run in your cluster environment? CI is typically not the setup for clusters.

Hi,

We have the message and enqueue servers in one cluster and the database processes in another. Why what is wrong with that, those are the SPOFs and should be in the cluster right?

Oliver,

Can you further elaborate on your statment on the CI?

Thanks in advance..

Oliver,

We have the message and enqueue server part of the cluster and not the actual instance (abap+java). Not sure if that answers your question.
