Dear all,

we are doing a Systemcopy to a Sanbox System - detach / attach method with SWPM

Source System:

ERP 6.0 without an EHP
OS: Windows 2003
DB: MSSQL 2005

Target System:
ERP 6.0 without an EHP
OS: Windws 2016
DB: MSSQL 2014

This migration worked and the System is up and running !

But i still have some questions:

1. Do i have to run SAP Tools for MS SQL Server – Step Database Upgrade Completion or is this done by SWPM ?

2. I found some inconsistencies in some SAP Notes (Upgrade from 2005 to 2014 is this working in one step or not ?)

  • Note 151603 say:
You can append an SQL Server database to an SQL Server version that is the same or up two versions higher version than the current SQL Server.
  • Note 1966701 say:
For source systems on SQL Server 2005 and higher, you can use the R3load/Jload based system copy as well as the database-specific system copy methods.

Thanks you

Steven

Hello Steven Bier,

Please find answer below..

1. Do i have to run SAP Tools for MS SQL Server – Step Database Upgrade Completion or is this done by SWPM ?

Yes, You need to run this tool. Make sure when you attach DB change Compatibility level under DB option to the SQL version you using.

Both SAP notes is right in the way you use to upgrade/create your system

Hope this helps resolving your question.

Feel free to leave note if you have more question.

Thanks
