Hi,
Is there anyway we can find the SAP system status from the OS level if the SAP is down.
Scenario --- Solution Manager is running on Windows 2003.
System crashed for some reason. Our infrastructure team has restarted the whole system. But they have not checked that SAP is up and running.
In this scenario can we configure any script or tool which send email alert stating that SAP is down on host********.
Thanks in advance.

Have a look for option
Microsoft System center operations manager solution.
we are using in our environment successfully. It generates email and we also configured it to generate the notification which raise the high priority call when system down.
This can be expanded to various critical alerts as well.

a few things you can check:
count the number of active disp+work.exe processes.
test with this command:
R3trans -d
Return code must be 0 (errorlevel)
