Solution Monitor

Hi All,

I am in a process of Implementing Solution Manager Monitoring for our landscape. Our landscape is ECC 6.0, XI, BW, EP. Can you please suggest what we can monitor using Solution Manager in order to get as much as possible information of the ABAP+JAVA systems (ex. CPU, SPACE, etc..)

Hi ,

Here are the Steps:

Prereq:

--> All Satellite systems connected from Solution Manager on the "Transaction SMSY" screen.

--> Prepare RFC connections between Solution Manager and Satellite systems for data collection ( RZ20 Data collection RFCs)

Steps:

1. Register "SAPCCMSR" and "SAPCCM4.X" on Sattilite Systems to report ABAP and Java stacks in local systems and report to Solution manager System

2. On Solution Manager System ( Acting as Central System) configure CCMS monitoring sets fromRZ20.

3. RZ21 --> configure CCMS pings alert monitoring.

Many thanks for your quick reply. But I want to know what we can monitor using Solution Manager Monitor and what we can not. I mean the limitation of Solution Manager Monitoring.

You Can Monitor:

OS:

1. CPU usage. Alerts when it exceeds usage to threshold level set.

2. Disk Space usage

3. LAN ( high traffic and packs drops etc)

4. Paging

Data base:

1. Expensive SQl Statements

2. Data files I/O

3. DB related errors

4. Log files usage

5. Backups.

and much more in DB..

SAP (ABAP + JAVA)

1. Instance avalibility

2. ABAP dumps

3. Gateway connections

4. Buffer swaps..( all buffers)

5. user disconnections..user lockes..

6. background job failures..

7. performance...

and lot more... ( 100d's)

This is great. Do we have any SAP Note which can give the list of monitor or similar to what you have mentioned but in detail (not technical).

I doubt if there would be one, you can fine each and every specific one in any SAP system.

go to RZ20 --> and expand each node. Open it and click on help, which willl explain deatils about that monitor.

That will be more comprehensive one...
