    Dear,

In simple word work centers category are production work center, maintenance work center. The work center category determines which data can be maintained in the master record for the work center

We Define work center category in OP40.

Capacity category determine whether it is machine or labor capacity.

We Define capacity categories in SPROProductionBasic DataWork CenterCapacity Planning---Define capacity categories. Which use in scheduling. and we do scheduling of only one capacity category as machine.

Enter the Capacity Category in the Tab 'Capacities' first and then use it in the 'Scheduling' Tab.

If ur scenario require specific category other than STD then u need to create using CR11.otherwise can follow the standard Capacity category like machine / person / etc based on ur requirement.

    Hope clear to you.

    Hi,

    Work center cat.

Key which distinguishes the work centers by their category (for example, production work center, maintenance work center).

    Dependencies

The work center category determines which data can be maintained in the master record for the work center.

    Capacity category

Key which describes capacity in more detail. The capacity category enables you to determine whether it is machine or labor capacity.

    Use

You can allocate capacities of different capacity categories to a work center.

    Hope this helps.

    Revert if still any doubt.

    Regards,

    Tejas

    Hi Saloni,

    Work Center Category

The work center category determines the data that can be maintained in a work center and, therefore, the functions (for example, costing or scheduling) for which the work center can be used.

Each work center category is assigned to the applications (for example, production, plant maintenance or quality management) whose menus allow you to maintain work centers with this category.

Each work center category has a number of screens assigned to it which the system displays when work centers of this category are displayed. The screens contain groups of fields (for example, scheduling data). Depending on the work center category, you can make field selections on these screens (for example, defining required entry fields).

    Capacity Category

Capacity categories can be, for example:

    machine

    labor

    setup crew

    emissions

You must maintain the available capacity for every capacity category (for example, shift start, shift end, calendar, etc). You can maintain default values for this data per plant and capacity category.

Hope it clears your understanding towards both.

If anything else is required, revert back.

    Regards,

    Harris
