We have a custom document type for cross company STOs which was created as a copy of the standard NB document type. Because of this, we cannot move a UNBW part from one plant to another without entering an account assignment. Is there any way around this? We need this to go into stock, not be consumed when received and if we put in an account assignment, it won't go into stock, correct? I know that I can go into config for the material type and "tick" the value update box, but should that really be done for a non-value part? What are the ramifications to doing this? I've searched the boards and have seen many postings about this issue but I couldn't find anything that specifically addressed how to treat UNBW parts on STOs. Also, everything works fine for intercompany STOs...it's only cross company that we have an issue with.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Does anyone have any suggestions for this? Right now if we want to move a UNBW part from one plant to another (in different company codes) we have to create an STO with an account assignment and uncheck the IR box so that we can enter $0. Then when we do the GR at the receiving location, we have to also do a 501 movement to get the items into inventory doing the first GR consumes the item (because of the account assignment that was mandatory.) Any suggestions?

Thank you so much for your help! I should have tested this before I posted the question, but instead took the word of my user that it did not go into stock (which I found to be incorrect after my testing.) Upon testing I found that the UNBW item did, in fact, go into stock when performing the GR into the receiving plant.
Thanks!

The account assignment field is already set to optional. I can create STOs for materials of other material types without having to enter an account assignment; however UNBW materials require it. I believe it's because the value box isn't checked for the material type (and I don't think it should be.) My question is how do other people handle this?
Thanks.
